Year 1 had a wonderfully exciting week full of reading adventures!
Our young learners began by discovering the difference between fiction (imaginative storybooks) and non-fiction (fact-filled books about the real world).
To put their new skills to the test, the children visited the Key Stage 1 library to explore a fresh collection of books. They took on a hands-on sorting challenge, carefully categorising texts into fiction and non-fiction sections, and put their detective skills to work finding specific examples around the shelves. During their investigation, they also discussed key features of non-fiction books, such as contents pages, a glossary and index pages.
The children showed fantastic enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the library challenge.
